Wow – what an awesome day of skateboarding in Castlegar. All the skaters showed amazing grit and determination.
In the beginner category Taryn skated with some great poise and balance. In the intermediate group Elias, Tyler Amaral, Franky Bergmann and Nathaniel Peirson threw down great tricks all over the park. Franky came away with the top spot.
The advanced division showcased the talents of Levi Peirson, Ryan Quibell, Trevor Frame, Ben Demoskoff, Tom Reimer, Nate Heddle, Acquilla Clarke and Franky Bergmann. Each heat was a tough battle. In the final Tom survived the final minutes to sneak past Ryan who went down hard.
In the cash shootout Alien and Levi came away with $50 each. Below is a cell phone pic collage from the event.

BIG THANKS: Ben and Mike for assisting with Judging, Nate for commentating, Taryn and Mum for Coffee/Sticker Organizing and first aid, Rec Centre Staff for waivers/power/skatepark readiness and all the spectators who came to enjoy the art of skateboarding.

What a fantastic day of skateboarding at the unique Vimey Skatepark. The crowd were very supportive of all the skaters who got out on the concrete to show off their skills.
The beginners were amazing with some absolute first timers out there learning to roll. The intermediate group were grinding around the obstacles with confidence and determination.
The advanced skaters really upped the ante with some really progressive skateboarding in the bowl and on the stairs. Trevor Frame (Castlegar), Levi Peirson (Nelson), Danan Lake (Nelson), Ben Demoskoff (Glade), Mike Gowzd (Castlegar) and Elias Swearingin (Slocan City) decided to battle it out.
